What the fourth day adds

The road from Meo Vac to Du Gia is the part of Ha Giang that has not been photographed to death. It is narrow, it is slow, and it runs through valleys where the only traffic is a buffalo. Du Gia itself is a Tay village in a bowl of rice terraces — no engines after dark, just the stream and the birds.

If your schedule can take it, this is the day that turns a sightseeing loop into something you will still be describing to people next year.

To ride yourself you must carry a 1968-convention international driving permit endorsed A or A1 together with your national licence. If you do not hold one, book the easy rider option instead — it is legal, it costs a little more, and you see more of the scenery.

Frequently asked questions

Is the road to Du Gia difficult?
It is narrower and rougher than the main loop, with gravel in places after rain. Riders who have handled days one and two are fine; if you are not confident, switch to easy rider for day three and ride pillion.
Can I swim at the waterfall in winter?
You can, but December to February the water is genuinely cold. Most winter groups look, photograph and keep their clothes on.
Do we visit Lung Cu on every four-day departure?
Yes, Lung Cu Flag Tower is on the day-two route for this package. It is the reason many people choose four days over three.
How does the last day end?
We are back in Ha Giang city by mid-afternoon, so an evening bus to Hanoi, Cat Ba or Cao Bang is realistic on day four rather than day five.
Can this run as a private tour?
Yes. A private four-day departure means your own guide, your own pace and a private room throughout. Ask us for the rate for your group size.
